Sean Ngueawane hat-trick wins local derby for Mungret Regional
Mungret Regional and Regional United met in this local derby at Mungret on Wednesday 28th March.
Mungret pressed the visitors from the kick off and with 5 minutes on the clock Sean Ngueawane scored the opening goal of the match with a low drive from the edge of the penalty area, when a Regional defender failed to clear the ball.
The home team were beginning to dominate possession with Stephen McPartlin
dictating play in midfield while Sean Ngueawane was causing havoc in the visitors defence with his pace and direct running.
Mungret’s Jack McNamara, Cian Marnane
and Sean Ngueawane all had opportunities to extend the home teams lead before Regional goalkeeper Sean Donnarumma denied Stephen McPartlin
a goal with a tremendous fingertip save to push the ball over the crossbar.
In the 32nd minute a Stephen McPartlin
shot from inside the penalty area struck the crossbar and Sean Ngueawane reacted first to the rebound to score from close range.

Regional started the second half on the offensive as they went in search of a goal and within 2 minutes of the restart centre forward Aarontino scored from inside the penalty area following a good run by the visitor’s midfielder.
The goal gave Regional confidence and the match became more competitive for the next 10 minutes however the Mungret defence of Adam, Dara, Ciaran, Daragh & Paddy regained their composure and supported by Hobiyd Koohestani
in midfield limited the visitors offensive threat to a couple of half chances.
In the 43rd minute Sean Ngueawane sealed his hat-trick when he scored with a shot from 7 yards to put the match beyond Regional.
Mungret scored their fourth goal in 56th minute when the Regional keeper parried a shot and Dylan Harrington
poked the ball into the net from close range.
Daragh Bridgeman was introduced as a second half substitute and had an immediate impact as he ran at the visitors defence at every opportunity. Within a few minutes Daragh was upended in the penalty area and he stepped up to score off the base of the left hand post.
Mungret continued to press for the final 10 minutes but the visitors defence held firm and the match finished on a final score of Mungret Regional 5 Regional United 1.
